Aida Gaudier Barcega from Van Nuys, CA passed away on September 4, 2018 at UCLA Ronald Reagan Hospital. She was born on December 7, 1942 in Bacor, Cavite Philippines.
She migrated to the United States in 1964 to be with her husband Melchor C. Barcega, who was in The Navy.
She first settled in Newport, Rhode Island and moved to San Diego, CA in 1968. She eventually settled in Van Nuys, California.
Aida grew up as an active member of the Philippine Independent church in Van Nuys, CA
She became an active parishioner of St. Mark’s Episcopal Church. She was a member of the Choir.
She also served on the vestry twice and was a member of the Altar guild. Aida was also a key participant in helping Fr. Gerry Engnan establish the Parish of The Immaculate Concepcion. She also attended services at the Holy Child in Los Angeles and was an active member of St. John’s Holy Child in Wilmington, CA. where she was the key organizer for the St. Michael’s Fiesta because of he deep devotion to St. Michael, The patron Saint of Bacoor.
Aida is survived by her husband Melchor, her children Melanie, Macy Marie, Maximo, Michael, Her Son-In-Law Mark, Grandson Edward, her mother Juana and her siblings, nephews and nieces.
