Betty M Caniggia - September 18,1937 - August 9, 2018
Betty came to California from Lima, Peru in the beginning of 1968. We met in December 1968, were married by July 1969, and had our one daughter, Jenni, in 1978. She worked alongside me in the jewelry business for a number of years and found another calling and passion late in life when she became a nurse caring for elderly people.
Betty was a gracious woman, a great inspiration to all, making it her life's mission to uplift anyone that crossed her path especially those in need. She exercised empathy, almost to a fault, defending anyone who was downtrodden.
She exemplified St. Paul's words regarding love. Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.
In this sense, Betty was the embodiment of love. She loved her family and friends. She loved strangers. She loved people who wronged her. She understood that the burden of sin in life was enough for the offender to bare, and did not judge. She took up her cross and loved all in the truest sense. Betty loved.
She stored her treasures not here, but in heaven, where she waits for us.
It has been said that the way to get to heaven, is investing in people getting there. She is looking down on us right now, having invested in this, and wants all of us here to invest in our eternal, loving future. Betty only fought to see the good in people, looking past their mistakes. She truly was an angel here on Earth- virtuous and a messenger of God, reminding us to be good to one another. Betty leaves behind a piece of her spirit she would like all of to take forward. To live, love, hope, and reconcile. Please join her celebration of her wonderful life.
Betty is survived by her husband, daughter, sister, brothers, a number of grandchildren, nieces, nephews, in-laws, dear family friends and has left all of us with her legacy to uplift and to take care of one another. Our angel has left this earth, but is working on the other side to reunite all of us again.
