Edgar Jerrell (Jerry) Short was born December 7, 1934, in Little Rock, Arkansas. He passed away on July 8, 2016, in Woodland Hills, California. Edgar served in the United States Navy on the U.S.S. Bataan during the Korean War. He then went on to have a career as a sheet metal worker in construction and was a proud union member of the Sheet Metal Workers’ Local 105. He loved to go fishing and even went to Costa Rica to go sport fishing with his son, Jerry. He loved to take people on drives through the canyons where he lived and point out the geological formations and fossils that could be found. He also loved raising birds and after he retired he led people on bird watching hikes in Calabasas. Another love he had was for antiques and he had quite a collection of antique decorative china and hippos. Throughout his life he loved to play cards, board games, and bingo.
Edgar is survived by his loving wife, Alba Palomo Short, who cared for him these past nine years after he survived several strokes. He is also survived by his children, Darleen (Thomas) McKenna and Jerry (Eva) Short, and stepdaughter, Carina Campos. He is survived by five grandchildren, six greatgrandchildren, and 15 nieces and nephews. His granddaughter, Cassandra Ann Chapman, previously predeceased him. He was previously married to and divorced from Ann R. Short, mother of Darleen & Jerry, and married to Linda V. Short, his beloved wife who passed away on December 24, 1991. His father, Rupert Arlington Short, and mother, Ardennia Short Pereira, are now deceased. Edgar was the last of his five brothers (Ray, Wane, Kenny, Roy, and Jimmy) to pass away. May they all rest in peace.
