On November 1, 2020, Ernestine MacLaren Hughson passed away peacefully at the age of 90 from dementia. Ernestine was born in Melrose, Massachusetts on March 1,1930, to the parents of Ernest and Myrtle MacLaren. She married Calvin Hughson on August 25, 1951, and lived in Wilmington, Massachusetts. A job at Hughes Aircraft Company took Ernestine and Calvin to California where they bought a house in Van Nuys in 1956. Ernestine raised her family and lived in this house until she passed. Ernestine was a homemaker and loved creating themed birthday parties and organizing neighborhood plays for her two children. She was always very active with volunteer work, president of the PTA, Girl Scout leader, and Sunday School teacher. Ernestine was always the first to offer help in anyone’s time of need. She kept very active throughout her life and loved making crafts, decorating for every holiday, playing cards and bunco, and most importantly loved babysitting her grandkids. Ernestine is survived by her son, Scott Hughson, and his wife, Julie Hughson; daughter, Karen, and her husband, Jack Rice; four grandchildren: Jennifer Gentry (husband, Dan), Brian Hughson (wife, Andrea), Travis Rice (wife, Christie), and Brianne Rice (fiancé Niamh); and six great-grandchildren: Samson and Noah Gentry, Sofia and Gabriel Hughson, and Rhyan and Dakota Rice. A viewing will be held at Angeleno Mortuary on Friday, November 6
th, from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 7
th, at 12:00 noon at the home of Jack and Karen Rice.
