On Monday, April 5, 2021, Eugene Vishnevsky, devoted husband, father, and grandfather passed away from a heart attack at the age of 60. Eugene was born in 1960 in the city of Kiev, Ukraine. In 1990, he immigrated to Israel, and then to Canada and finally, to Los Angeles, California in 1993. Eugene held a master’s degree in Biology and Chemistry and “broke open” as an artist while working as a biologist in Kiev. He worked at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in medical research before becoming an artist full time. His art sought to make over the presence of cultural archetypes through symbolic primitivism. His creative passion was felt by everyone and his unique zest for life was apparent to everyone he met. Eugene loved his time spent with family and friends, being a pet parent to any animal that crossed his path, and spending time in nature. Eugene is survived by his wife, Irene Vishnevsky, his daughter, Masha Hopenhayn Vishnevsky, and his grandson, Liev Vishnevsky Hopenhayn. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, April 13th, 2021 at Angeleno Mortuary in Van Nuys at two o’clock in the afternoon.
