The Journey of Her Life

Garrett Jean Brown (Holiday), was born in Helena Arkansas, on January 6, 1938 to her loving parents, Garrett Brown (deceased), a navy sailor and Spencer Jean Brown (deceased), a housekeeping agent. Garrett had two siblings, Dandeago “Danny” Brown (deceased) and Pearl Brown-Peoples (deceased).
Their family relocated to Chicago on 62nd street. Garrett Jean met and married a wonderful man named Clark Curtiss, and they were blessed with three children, Ollie Jean Curtiss (Clark)(deceased), Cartez Clarkson Curtiss (deceased), and Terry Denise Curtiss (Griggs-Williams). After the marriage dissolved, Garrett Jean later met and married her soul-mate, Mr. Ronnie Holiday Sr.at the Cook County, Illinois City Hall. Their union was blessed with three children, Nina Maria Holliday, Ronnie Holliday, Jr. and Enrique Holliday (deceased). They shared 50 wonderful years together in which we celebrate today.
Garrett Jean received her Associates Degree in Business from Olive Harvey College in Chicago. She was employed by Jewel Food’s and managed their deli department for 11 years.
Garrett Jean, along with her family, were faithful members of Antioch Baptist Church at 132nd Street, in Chicago, Illinois. In 1977, Garrett Jean became a bowling member of the Friday Night Mixed League, Hi Series HDCP, she won 648+ wins and received multiply trophies and cash awards.
After retiring early from Jewel Foods, Ronnie and Garrett Jean relocated their family to California in 1987, to assist her son Cartez, a member of the Los Angeles Police Department, with his traffic school business. Garrett Jean had great entrepreneur qualities, and also opened a childcare service as well as a gift basket business. She was an outstanding cook, a nurturing caring mother and a loving grandmother. Garrett Jean and her family later learned that she would struggle with Dementia and Alzheimer's.
On September 21st, 2016 at 4:45am, in the arms of her loving husband and best friend, Ronnie Holiday Sr., Garrett Jean passed into eternal life. She left behind many wonderful memories for her family to cherish which include :Terry Denise Williams, Nina Holliday (Bedford-Williams), Ronnie Jr Holliday,( Grandchildren), Lakita N. Griggs, Shantele Clark, Enrique Clark, Kenneth A. Clark, Candice Clark, Stacey Jean Curtiss, Raina Bedford-Williams(Docherty), Krystal D. Williams, Ari Bedford-Williams, Ariel Jean Holliday, Amber Bedford-Williams, Lelon Holliday and Landin Holliday and a host of great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws and neighboring friends. We will always cherish Mrs. Garrett Jean Holiday; her battle is now the Lords.
