Kathryn Christine Cartmel
September 13, 1990 – April 15, 2021

Kathryn was born on September 13, 1990, to TinaMarie and Ray Cartmel. She was a miracle baby or what some refer to as a rainbow baby, and her Mom and Dad along with her big sisters were so excited to welcome her home. She completed the family.

Kathryn grew up in Santa Clarita attending Emblem Elementary School, La Mesa Junior High School, Rio Norte Junior High School and Valencia High School. After graduating, Kathryn decided she wanted to pursue a career in the law and took courses to become a paralegal at Clarita Career College. She obtained her paralegal certificate and started working with Dennis Rosenstock. She loved that job and she was good at it, so she decided to return to school and pursue her undergrad degree and ultimately a law degree. She attended Cal State LA and transferred to UCLA where she graduated with honors. Kathryn then attended University of La Verne College of Law earning her Juris Doctorate at the top of her class. At the time of her passing, she’d achieved her goal and was a licensed attorney in the State of California.

When she wasn’t working or studying, Kathryn loved hanging out with friends and family. Her smile was brightest when she was surrounded by the people she loved and who loved her.

Kathryn is survived by her father and step-mother, Ray and Anne Cartmel; her mother and step-father, TinaMarie and Chuck Stockdale; her sisters, Jennifer Stump and Cheryl VanDick; her sister-in-law, Kitty Mak and brother in-law Shaun VanDick; and her nieces and nephews, Griffen, Daisy, Savannah and Dexter.

The wake will be held on Monday, April 26, 2021 from 6-8pm at Angeleno Mortuary (5948 Van Nuys Blvd., VanNuys, CA 91401). The service will be held on Tuesday, April 27, 2021 at 11:30am at Angeleno Mortuary. Burial will be held on Tuesday, April 27, 2021 at 1:45pm at San Fernando Mission Cemetery (11160 Stranwood Ave., Mission Hills, CA 91345; Section J at marker 130).
