Paul Louis Berry III passed from this Earth on Monday, August 5th, 2024. Paul was born in Granite City, Illinois to Paul and Shirley Berry, and older sister Karen. Paul loved the outdoors in his youth and spent as much time as he could there. He also loved visiting his uncle’s farm where he learned the value of a hard day’s work. After high school, Paul attended Southern Illinois University. He began college as a pre-med major but quickly moved to his true passion, art. Paul was a gifted visual artist as well as a gifted photographer and musician. After college, he moved to Florida where he spent his time creating art and enjoying the climate he loved so much. Later, he moved to Los Angeles. He had the strongest work ethic in his professional life, and even though he would arrive home tired and mentally spent, he would still find the energy to work on his art. While in Los Angeles he discovered that not only was he talented in art and music, but he had the gift of storytelling. He had a natural ability to make stories come to life and make anyone reading his prose to become engrossed in the story. While Paul loved art, his one great love was his children. He lit up whenever one came into the room. He loved to take them to bookstores and spoil them with gifts. He was a natural at diffusing tantrums during their toddler years. He spent his time with them playing video games, watching new and old movies, and giving them the best hugs. At night, he would read to them. Their favorite was “The Road” by Cormac McCarthy, his favorite author. It tells the story of man who would do anything for his son, much like Paul would have done for his own children. The loss to them has been devastating. They miss their pappa more than words can express. Paul was preceded in death by his father, Paul Louis Berry II. He is survived by his wife, and three children, Mila, Alessandro and Emmylou, his mother Shirley, sister Karen, and many nieces and nephews. Paul was an incredible friend. He was there whenever a friend needed him. His loss to his friends will be tremendously felt. A memorial service to honor Paul and his life will be held on September 6, 2024 from 6:00 – 8:00 pm at Angeleno Mortuary in Van Nuys. Please join us in honoring Paul.
