Celebration of life tribute for Richard (Dick) (Dickie) (D.) Oliver Marsh
September 3rd- 1936 – December 18th -2020
The earth has lost a beautiful soul who will remain in our hearts forever.
He was a humble , generous man full of grace charm and wisdom.
As in his words to his editor and friend Carol who helped him navigate and publish his last few books.
This is from a correspondence re: “CHRONICALS OF RICHARD OLIVER MARSH”
“I tried to just give a more of the mundane than some of the other happenings as I always thought some
of the awards or accolades just made me braggy. I don’t need to go there.”
“If I told people I have traveled in over 60 countries, almost always flying first class, climbed mountain
peaks, skied Black diamond runs ,been awarded an outstanding alumni from ISU, have 4 patents ,had
top secret clearances, been invited to embassy’s for dinner, lettered in athletics in collage for 4 years, fly
airplanes, parachuted off of mountains ,been top salesman for American Express Credit Corp and
offered a career path, been tested - and tested at Stevens institute, tested high in IQ tests, built a
division of a corporation from zero to the top producer in 4 years ,started and ran 3 corporations for
years, done some specialized training and shooting, been shot at and returned fire, dated (a select word)
over 50 ladies when I was single, built 2 homes alone, lectured MBA classes at a university and have a
few awards--- They would erase this email and never speak to me again. I wouldn’t blame them”
“Whatever happened in my life occurred, I did not plan it. I do admit that if I was challenged to do
something. I would go after it and intend to succeed , quietly.
“We are spiritual beings having a human experience”
Pierre Teilhard de Chardin
He was a quiet noise
