Thomas John Marostica (1972-2021)
Surrounded by his loving wife and children, Thomas John Marostica, loving husband, father, son, friend, grill master, coach, and IT expert, passed away on Thursday, October 21, 2021.
Born to Mike and Mary Marostica on May 4, 1972 in Oxnard, California, Tom had an idyllic childhood consisting of beach days with his grandparents, baseball games with his dad, endless adventures with his brother, Mike, and sister, Annie. He inherited his mother’s sweet tooth, made the most of the education and modeled his family values after the example his father provided.
In ceramics class in high school, Tom met a classmate named Nicole with whom he enjoyed sharing his circus animal cookies, and his favorite movies. But it wasn’t until he found himself coming home every weekend from Cal Poly, where he was studying engineering and computer science, that it occurred to him that best friends sometimes make the best matches.
Tom and Nicole married on November 14, 1998, and not too long after welcomed Maya and then Matteo into their lives. Tom made his living in various IT positions around Los Angeles, but his family was his life. Flag football, baseball, soccer, golf, even dance -- there was no limit to his dedication. If he could have taught the dance class, he would have, but instead wisely opted for coaching soccer and making himself available to assist with school, and church. He spent every birthday working the St. Francis de Sales Festival from sunup until well into the evening, the smile never leaving his face.
Tom’s biggest smiles were reserved for his wife and children. Tom was happiest talking about the accomplishments of his independent, spirited daughter and his spiritual, self-possessed son. Tom and Nicole continued to laugh hard and fight passionately every day, as soulmates do, both believing that their relationship was blessed beyond measure.
Tom’s youthful spirit, his love of Star Wars and sports, his passion for a well-ordered grocery store and his encyclopedic knowledge of every alcoholic beverage known to man will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
Tom is survived by his wife Nicole, and their children Maya and Matteo; parents Mary and Michael Marostica; brother Michael (Deborah) Marostica; sister Ann (Ed) Ransom; nephews, Austin and Zaine Yzaguirre, Andrew Marostica and Jameson Ransom; nieces Ashleah Yzaguirre, Emily Marostica, Amber Mendez-Yzaguirre, and Josephine Ransom.
