Reflection On the life of Warren L. Fletcher
Warren (age 61) was born in DEnver Colorado 07/30/1954 to the couple Lewis and Byrdal Fletcher both immigrated from Arkansas after World War II. Warren was the 3rd (baby child) for this progressive couple who worked hard and encouraged education for their children which they had been denied in Arkansas.
He attended Whittier Elementary, Morey Jr. High and East High School in Denver but moved to LA and graduated from Dorsey High School in 1971 after the death of his mother, Byrdal. He showed remarkable talent on the East High School debate team and won a statewide debating championship.
After graduating from Dorsey, Warren attended Cal State University at Northridge majoring in cell and molecular biology and spent 2 summers studying at Harvard University in Boston. He graduated from Cal State in 1974 and began working with a major Pharmaceutical company. He later trained in a clinical laboratory program at Martin Luther King Hosp in Los Angeles, where he obtained a Calif license in Laboratory Technology. He worked as a clinical laboratory scientist up until becoming disabled app 2 years ago.
Warren was very interested in community causes and enjoyed travel and spending time with his family. He always attended family gatherings, reunions he made sure he visited and knew his large extended family on both his mother and father's side of the family. Members of the family describe him as always being upbeat, fun, honest, protective and exceedingly intelligent. Preceding his death is his mother, Byrdal Fletcher, deceased 1971 and Father Lewis Fletcher deceased 2005 and numerous aunts and uncles on both sides of family.
He leaves his sister Dr. Betty C Fletcher, his brother Louis Fletcher, his Aunts Glady's Grayson, Yvonne Fletcher, Julia George, and his Uncles Calvin Criswell and Benjamin Criswell and many cousins.
